Kickboxing originally comes from Muy Thai Kickboxing, which originated in Thailand, and Karate, which originated in Japan. It is a free form of stand-up combat martial arts, which combines Burmese Boxing, Savate, Muy Thai, Sanda, Indian Boxing, and Karate and focuses on elbow strikes, knee strikes, and headbutts.
In the 1960s, A Japanese boxing promoter by the name of Osamu Noguchi developed the mixed martial art hybrids of Muy Thai Kickboxing and Karate and called it “Kickboxing.”
There are now two different classes of Kickboxing – Japanese and American, the difference being the rules between the two martial arts in competitions.
